  • What are the main features of the DS-7000?

    Device password protection and DSS Pro real-time 128- or 256-bit file encryption makes the DS-7000 ideal for workplace environments that deal with sensitive information. Packaged with next-generation Olympus Dictation Management System (ODMS) software and compatible with Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software, the DS-7000 is designed to become an essential part of any office’s dictation workflow directly out of the box.

    Support for up to 32 index marks per dictation file makes it easy to locate critical information. Dual SD and microSD card slots allow for up to 32GB of total memory.   • What is ODMS?

    Olympus Dictation Manage System (ODMS) software consists of multiple modules each specifically designed to cater for the needs of different users. Authors, Transcriptionists and System Administrators can each utilize their respective modules to carry out tasks and manage their dictation workflow.

    The administration modules are only available in the ODMS Workgroup Mode and will be supplied on a separate CD and respective License numbers. The Dictation & Transcription Module for Clients are available in both Workgroup and Standalone mode. They are supplied on a CD and License included with the device or transcription kit.

  • What are index marks?

    Index marks can be placed into a file during recording or playback. Index marks are used to provide a quick and easy way to identify important or significant parts within the file. Up to 32 index marks can be set into a file. When a file is locked or set to read-only, or when the SD card is locked, index mark cannot be erased. If the recorder has been set to DSS Classic mode, index marks are limited to a maximum of 16 for each file.

  • What is VCVA?

    The VCVA feature extends recording time and conserves memory by stopping recording during silent periods, which helps the playback to be more efficient.     Note: ODMS R6 software does not install on a Mac. When you run the software CD on a Mac, it installs DSS Player for Mac V7.3. DSS Player for Mac V7.3 is compatible with Mac OSX 10.5 and higher.

  • What languages does ODMS support?

    ODMS software supports English, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Swedish.

  • What repositories does ODMS support?

    ODMS supports two types of repositories:

    Repository Service

    The Repository Service is a service program that manages the repository and runs on a server PC which the System Configuration Program and all of Dictation Modules and/or Transcription Modules in a workgroup environment can access. This folder is created automatically when installing the System Configuration Program

    Shared Folders

    Shared folders are folders you manually create on a shared drive. The ODMS can handle shared folders for both DSS Player Pro R5 and ODMS R6.

  • What email clients are compatible with ODMS?

    ODMS software supports Outlook 2003/2007/2010 (32 bit only), Lotus Notes 7/8 and GroupWise 7/8.

  • What virtual environments are compatible with ODMS?

    ODMS R6 is supported in the following Citrix Presentation Server:

    Notes

    • Apply the latest Future Pack released from Citrix at each version of Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 / XenApp.
    • ODMS R6.1.0 or later support a connection via WebInterface.
    • ODMS R6 is not supported in Citrix Presentation Server 3.0 / 4.0 or earlier versions. In addition, it is not supported in Citrix XenServer.

    Notes

    • Windows Server 2012 is supported with ODMS R6.2.1(DM/TM).
    • It does not support Terminal service function over another remote login service, such as “Remote Web Workplace” on Small Business Server.
    • “Terminal Service Remote App” connection is supported with ODMS R6.1.0(DM/TM) or later.
  • What is on the ODMS CD?

    There are two types of ODMS CDs: “Client” and “Administrator.”

    ODMS Client CDs contain:

    Dictation Module: ODMS R6 Dictation software is supplied with DS-7000/DS-3500. This is used for downloading dictation files, configuring the device and transcribing files with the voice recognition features.

    Transcription Module: ODMS R6 Transcription software is supplied with the AS-7000 transcription kit. This module is used for transcribing documents, managing dictations and correcting documents using the voice recognition features.

    File Downloader: A small client-side module used for automatically downloading dictations from supported Olympus devices. No License is required to use this software. This module does not have voice recognition or playback features.

    ODMS Administrator CDs contain:

    The ODMS Administration CD contains all of the tools required to install, customize, and manage an ODMS environment in Workgroup mode. The software is supplied separately and is a required component of an ODMS Workgroup mode environment.

    ODMS Administration CD consists of the following components:

    • System Configuration Program (With license)
    • License Manager (With License)
    • Terminal Service Client Virtual Driver
    • Citrix Client Virtual Driver
    • Repository Service

  • What is the ODMS System Configuration Program and License Manager?

    The System Configuration Program and License Manager are server-side applications designed to be used alongside ODMS in a Workgroup Mode environment. Both applications can offer the Administrator a vast array of functions to allow them to manage and configure their ODMS environment in the following ways:

    • Centrally manage user and group settings.
    • Lock settings and restrict access to software menus.
    • Deploy software and firmware updates across the environment.
    • Create custom installer files to streamline the deployment process.
    • Centrally manage ODMS License usage.
    • Update Multi User License quantities to allow support for more users.

  • What is Real-Time Voice Recognition?

    In Real-Time Voice Recognition, the digital recorder is connected directly to the computer and the dictation is made inside the real-time voice recognition editor within the ODMS R6 software. Corrections can then be made to the dictation and the file is then transcribed into a document template. Once the dictation is complete, the files can be sent for adaptation to improve the accuracy of the voice recognition profile.

  • What is Background Voice Recognition?

    In Background Voice Recognition, the files are downloaded into ODMS R6 software and then processed in the background voice recognition queue. Once the file has been transcribed, it can be corrected in the Transcription Module by using the Voice Recognition correction window. Finally the dictation will be sent for adaptation to improve the accuracy of the voice recognition profile.
